How to read your Chartimatic performance summary

The Chartimatic performance summary is the main view (in-email or in-app) that shows your key metrics and AI-generated insights at a glance. It’s structured to answer ‘Are we up or down?’ and ‘Why?’ so you can quickly decide where to focus.

What is the performance summary?

The performance summary is the core view you see in your daily briefing email or when you open Chartimatic. It combines your key metrics—revenue, orders, traffic, ad performance, email results—into a single structured view with AI-generated commentary.

How to read each section

Top-line metrics

At the top of every summary, you’ll see your most important numbers: revenue, orders, and usually AOV. These are compared against a prior period (typically yesterday or last week) so you can immediately see whether you’re up or down.

Channel breakdown

Below the top-line metrics, you’ll see performance broken down by channel—organic search, paid ads, email, direct, and so on. This helps you identify which channels are driving results and which need attention.

AI commentary

The AI commentary section explains what changed and why in plain language. Instead of just showing you that revenue dropped 10%, it might explain that the drop coincided with a paused Google Shopping campaign or a dip in email open rates.

Suggested actions

When the data suggests a clear action, the summary will include a recommendation—like reviewing a specific campaign, checking inventory on a top seller, or investigating a conversion rate drop.

Example: reading a Monday morning summary

You open your briefing on Monday and see that weekend revenue was up 8% vs. the prior weekend. The channel breakdown shows that email drove 30% of the weekend revenue thanks to a Friday campaign send, while paid search was flat. The AI commentary notes that the email campaign’s click rate was 2x the average, suggesting the subject line resonated. The suggested action is to test a similar subject line on the next campaign.

Frequently asked questions

Which metrics are included in the performance summary by default?

Most summaries include top-line revenue, orders, key channel metrics, conversion rate, AOV, and any notable email or lifecycle performance, depending on your connected integrations.

Can I customize which metrics appear?

Depending on your plan and product configuration, you may be able to customize parts of the summary. If customization isn’t available yet, Chartimatic focuses on the most widely useful metrics for ecommerce brands.

What time zone does the summary use?

The summary typically uses your workspace or store time zone so that ‘yesterday’ lines up with your business day. Check your account settings if numbers don’t match what you expect.

Why do my numbers look different from individual tools?

Small differences can come from different time zones, attribution rules, or filters. Always compare like-for-like date ranges and settings when reconciling Chartimatic with tools like Shopify or Google Analytics.

Do I need all integrations connected to get value from the summary?

No, but the more sources you connect, the better. You can start with Shopify and add other integrations over time to enrich the summary.
